This issue here has little to do with race. More importantly, what does an international retail corporation have to do with trap-hip hop crossover music and young black kids? Nothing. K Mart, like any corporation, will sweep up what they believe to be trending at the moment and exploit it for their own profit margin. If you want to make this a discussion of race, you could say they chose young black performers to make this music video seem more “authentic” in the eyes of K Mart consumers.”
