DAYUM!!– Violator Union by Shawna Mills. Awesomeness!!!

lazymill_VU

I had the supreme pleasure of having some free time on my hands to finally read the Graphic Novel Violator Union by Shawna Mills. It’s funny I met this young lady several years ago and at the time could not imagine what talent she was bringing to the table. Much like one of my College art rivals she had that drive and passion that spoke I am going to do whatever it takes to be great. So far she is doing what needs to be done to climb that ladder and make it to the top.
Violator Union in a nutshell is about four criminals traveling together, committing crimes and causing chaos to the world while also evading capture. To tell you anymore would spoil the story. Earlier in the year there was a kickstarter that made it’s goal and the book was released and luckily I was one of the many that placed money on the line to make this happen. I believe on her website there may be a link to purchase the book now that 2 chapters are wrapped but for more about the story of Violator Union check out the website. Click on the image.

DAYUM!!–Turbo F.A.S.T wow I was totally served.

I was totally stumped by this animation and the sheer quality but then again this was done by Titmouse Studio which created MotorCity along with the work they put into the Black Dynamite animated series, with that in mind you can never quite doubt the development team. Everything seems to work just perfectly for this animation, mind you I have not seen the 3d version of Turbo and yet after seeing this version I would rather seen this as a feature length production due to the stylistic choices an decisions. The colors are vibrant the animation is smooth, fluid and contains a surge of energy. There is simply too much to love about this show and note the jokes, character interactions and simple nods to the current culture is amazing. Great Job yet again Titmouse you have proven yet again why you are top dogs. I suspect the 2d animation and maybe a few set designs were created in flash then edited in aftereffect or another such editing application I also see some 3d work but very subtle. That is called using the tools to the utmost degree. In an age where the tools provide the edge I am surprised many are not jumping leap and bounds. Check out Turbo on netflix.
