I have played a handful of games in my time but the last memorable portable game was Square-Enix’s “The World ends with you”, actually that is a lie I just finished the latest Zelda between worlds and that was rather fun. I have not gotten the chance to play Fire Emblem and I was never a Pokemon fan so I never got into that series. Square, sorry Square-Enix has made many games over the years and I have played a handful, but not all their portable tales have kept me tied in as I owned FF III and FF IV for my DS and was simply got bored. For my consoles I had FF7, ff8, ff9, ff10, ff12 sorry I skipped ff10-2 was not to my liking even though I heard it was an interesting game and well I never did pick up ff13, too rigid. Getting back to Bravely default, I loved the fact that voice dialogue is included. As an English speaker you would suspect I would choose English but alas I preferred the Japanese voice actors,I felt they sounded more naturally in this game than how the English voiced seemed forced, this seems to be common practice with product originally of Japanese origin and translated to English. I find that Spanish and french dubs are actually closer to the Japanese vocals, that an interesting find mind you. There came a point in the game when I decided I just could not stand the English dialogue any further and switch to Japanese.
Overall the game is a beautifully designed master piece, the music, the vocals and characters are simply an awe. The background seem like a water painting reminds me of the Secret of mana series. The battleclasses are also especially stunning, you can choose to be a ninja, a samurai, a monk, a knight, a dark knight, a red mage or a thief. The list goes on and each character dons their gear differently. I have not completed the game but there are handful of scenes where humor pops in and you simply have to laugh. There is a scene where an old man is talking about one of the character’s and that segment was a throw back to Dragon ballz’s master Roshi or Ranma’s Panty bandit a truly funny moment. If you own a 3ds, love JRpgs and you simply want an interesting game look no further Bravely Default is your game. I recommend downloading the Demo and beat it first as you are able to get a better understanding of the game and a possible boost again that is up to you but just a forward notice.
